Welcome to Crafty Kids Club at Knot & Purl! Our goal is to create a calm, welcoming, creativity-focused environment where kids can explore, make, experiment, and feel proud of what they create.
Program Structure
Crafty Kids Club is designed as a flexible drop-off creative studio experience for children ages 6+.
The program combines open-ended creativity with themed weekly inspiration. Children may work from project ideas provided throughout the studio or use materials as inspiration for their own creations. Projects are intentionally flexible and may vary based on age, interests, attendance length, and individual creative pace.
Creative Philosophy
Crafty Kids Club is intentionally designed as an exploration-based creative experience rather than a traditional instructor-led art class or workshop.
Children are encouraged to follow their curiosity, make creative choices, experiment with materials, and work at their own pace. Weekly themes provide inspiration and direction, but projects remain flexible and open-ended.
Studio staff are always present to provide encouragement, guidance, demonstrations, troubleshooting help, and support when needed — but the focus is on fostering independence, imagination, and creative confidence rather than replicating identical step-by-step projects.
We believe some of the most meaningful creativity happens when children are given the space to explore, problem-solve, experiment, and make ideas their own.

During Camp Hours
If you need to reach the studio while your child is attending Crafty Kids Club—whether you have a question, are running late for pickup, or need to communicate something important—you may call or text the Crafty Kids Club Studio Line at:
📞 (617) 658-3234
This number rings directly in the studio during program hours so you can reach the staff member working with the campers. For questions outside of camp hours, you’re always welcome to contact Tracy through the main Knot & Purl business phone or email.
What to Bring
Children should bring:
• A water bottle
• Snack and/or lunch as needed for their scheduled session
• Comfortable clothes that can get creative
Many projects involve paint, glue, clay, ink, and other crafting materials.
Independence Expectations
Crafty Kids Club is a drop-off program. Children should be comfortable:
• Participating in a group environment
• Using the restroom independently
• Following studio guidance and safety instructions
• Transitioning between activities with general supervision
At this time, Knot & Purl is not able to provide 1:1 behavioral, therapeutic, medical, or aide support.
Studio Behavior Expectations
We want the studio to feel safe, creative, and welcoming for everyone.
Children are expected to:
• Treat others respectfully
• Use materials and tools safely
• Follow staff instructions
• Participate in a way that supports a calm group environment
Crafty Kids Club encourages open-ended creativity and exploration while also helping children build awareness around using shared studio materials thoughtfully and respectfully.
If a child is struggling to participate safely or respectfully, parents or guardians may be contacted for support or early pickup if needed.
Participation Readiness
Crafty Kids Club is best suited for children who are comfortable participating in a creative studio environment with general supervision rather than constant direct instruction or individualized oversight.
While age guidelines are provided, readiness and independence levels vary by child. Knot & Purl reserves the right to determine whether the program environment is an appropriate fit for a child’s needs and participation style.
Food & Allergies
Families are responsible for sharing any allergies, medical concerns, dietary restrictions, or important health information during registration.
While we encourage mindfulness in shared spaces, Knot & Purl is not an allergen-free facility.
Illness
Please keep children home if they are experiencing:
• Fever
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Contagious illness symptoms
• Any condition that would make participation difficult or unsafe
Studio Dog
Dobby, our friendly Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, is typically present in the studio during program hours. Families should take this into consideration when registering children with allergies, fears, or sensitivities to dogs.
Photos
Photos of studio activities and projects may occasionally be used for Knot & Purl marketing, social media, or promotional materials unless families request otherwise in writing.
Emergency Care
In the event of an emergency, parents or guardians will be contacted immediately. By registering for Crafty Kids Club, families authorize Knot & Purl to seek emergency medical care if a parent or guardian cannot be reached.
Questions
We’re always happy to answer questions before or during the program. Thank you for helping us create a joyful and creative experience for everyone!
